Daniel Day-Lewis’s final cinematic performance sees him tackle fashion in Phantom Thread trailer

For over thirty years, Daniel Day-Lewis has wowed audiences with his incredible and versatile performances that have led to a remarkable THREE Oscar wins in the Best Actor category.

But the Irish star of My Left Foot (1989), Last of the Mohicans (1992), In the Name of the Father (1993), Gangs of New York (2002), There will be Blood (2007) and Lincoln (2012) is set to make his final big-screen appearance in the next few months following his surprise decision to quit acting in June.

Fittingly, he has teamed up with his former director Paul Thomas Anderson (There will be Blood) to explore the world of fashion and dressmaking in the upcoming drama Phantom Thread. An official trailer for the film is now available to watch.

Set in post-war London, the plot sees Day-Lewis play renowned dressmaker Reynolds Woodcock as he helps design dresses for high-class individuals including film stars, socialites and even royalty. However his carefully tailored life is complicated when he embarks on a romance with a young woman.

The support cast for the film includes Lesley Manville (Another Year, Mr. Turner), Vicky Krieps (Hanna, The Colony) and Camilla Rutherford (Gosford Park, Breathe).

Day-Lewis will be hoping that his role as Woodcock helps him clinch an unlikely FOURTH Oscar win to follow up his award-winning portrayals of Christy Brown, Daniel Plainview and Abraham Lincoln.

Phantom Thread will be released in the UK on February 2nd 2018.
