Chris Pratt and Tom Holland voice Elvish brothers who embark on a quest in official trailer for Pixar’s Onward

The past decade has been a bit of a mixed bag for Pixar in terms of the quality of their films. Whilst they achieved success with the likes of Brave (2012), Inside Out (2015) and Coco (2017), they also endured frustration with other productions like Monsters University (2013), The Good Dinosaur (2015) and the Cars sequels (2011-17).

But with the brilliance of Toy Story 4 out of the way, the Disney-owned studio are hoping for some more joy from their latest animation Onward which explores the world of fantasy.

A new official trailer has premiered online and reveals more of its story which looks set to borrow heavily on the cult-classic Weekend at Bernie’s (1989).

Directed by Dan Scanlon (Monsters University), the plot centres on two teenage elf brothers who live in a suburban fantasy world. The pair go on an journey to discover if there is still a little magic left out there in order to spend one last day with their father, who died when they were too young to remember him.

Marvel stars Chris Pratt (The LEGO Movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2) and Tom Holland (Avengers: Infinity War, Spider-Man: Far from Home) voice the siblings with award-winning actresses Julia Louis-Dreyfus (A Bug’s Life, Veep) and Octavia Spencer (The Help, The Shape of Water) also featuring.

Onward will be released in the UK on 6 March 2020.
