Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie tackle sexual harassment at Fox News in Bombshell trailer

As one of the biggest media corporations in the world, Fox News are certainly no strangers to controversy. The network have been called to task by many for their bias towards the Republican Party and President Donald Trump as well as eye-opening stories about 9/11, Barack Obama and many more.

But the biggest setback for them recently has been the sexual harassment scandal which led to the deserved takedown of Fox chairman and CEO Roger Ailes. The story behind Ailes’s road to ruin was recently covered in the Showtime mini-series The Loudest Voice which starred Oscar-winner Russell Crowe as the notorious predator.

As it happens, a film about the scandal has also been made with the focus being on the women who helped to bring Ailes down. Entitled Bombshell, the biopic features three of Hollywood’s biggest actresses in key roles with the film’s official trailer released earlier today.

Directed by Jay Roach (Game Change, Trumbo), the film stars Oscars-winning duo Charlize Theron (Monster, Mad Max: Fury Road) and Nicole Kidman (The Hours, Lion) as Megyn Kelly and Gretchen Carlson, the real-life Fox News anchors who accused former CEO Ailes of sexual harassment.

The prolific Margot Robbie (I, Tonya, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) also features as a Fox News worker named Kayla who is a composite of other women who came forward. John Lithgow (Dexter, The Crown) tackles the crucial role of Ailes with Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, The Artist) playing Fox founder Rupert Murdoch).

The rest of the starry ensemble cast includes Oscar-winner Allison Janney (The West Wing, I, Tonya), Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live, Yesterday), Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights, Nashville), Alice Eve (Star Trek into Darkness, Iron Fist), Mark Duplass (Zero Dark Thirty, Goliath), Brigette Lundy-Paine (Downsizing, Atypical), Liv Hewson (Top of the Lake, Santa Clarita Diet), Alanna Ubach (Legally Blonde, Euphoria), Rob Delaney (Catastrophe, Deadpool 2), Ashley Greene (Twilight series, Rogue), Richard Kind (A Serious Man, Argo), Elisabeth Rohm (American Hustle, Joy), Nazanin Boniadi (Homeland, Hotel Mumbai), Ahna O’Reilly (The Help, Marshall), Brooke Smith (The Silence of the Lambs, Ray Donovan), Madeline Zima (Californication, Twin Peaks), Robin Weigert (Sons of Anarchy, Deadwood: The Movie) and Stephen Root (Office Space, Barry).

Touted as a potential awards contender, Bombshell will explode into UK cinemas on 24 January 2020.
