Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard are World War II assassins in Allied trailer

It’s safe to say that the last few weeks have been difficult for Brad Pitt.

The Hollywood superstar is currently going through a messy divorce from his equally famous wife Angelina Jolie though he does have the distraction of an exciting new film out next month.

Pitt stars opposite Oscar-winning actress Marion Cotillard (La Vie En Rose, Macbeth) in the upcoming war thriller Allied which premiered its official trailer earlier today.

Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future trilogy, Forrest Gump) and written by Steven Knight (Locke, Peaky Blinders), the plot sees Pitt play an intelligence officer who is based in North Africa in 1942.

During a dangerous mission behind enemy lines, he encounters a beautiful French Resistance pilot (Cotillard) and later marries her when they reunite in London. However when he is informed that his new wife is possibly a double agent, he faces the prospect of having to kill her.

Pitt and Cotillard are joined in the film by Jared Harris (The Man from U.N.C.L.E, The Crown), Matthew Goode (A Single Man, The Imitation Game), Simon McBurney (Rev, Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation), Lizzy Caplan (Now You See Me 2, Masters of Sex), Marion Bailey (Vera Drake, Mr. Turner), Anton Lesser (Endeavour, Game of Thrones) and Charlotte Hope (The Theory of Everything, Game of Thrones).

Allied will be released in the UK on November 25th.
