Arnold Schwarzenegger is back as the Terminator in official trailer for Terminator: Genisys

2015 is already promising to be a bad-ass year for cinema especially if you’re into your blockbusters.

With The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Jurassic World and of course Star Wars: The Force Awakens all set to battle it out for box-office domination, another renowned film series is set to return albeit via the reboot option.

The thrilling Terminator franchise is making its comeback to the big-screen for the fifth time in the form of its latest outing, Terminator Genisys.

The film, whose plot appears to mirror that of James Cameron’s original 1984 hit The Terminator, has unveiled its official trailer online.

Directed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones, Thor: The Dark World), the plot sees Arnold Schwarzenegger reprise his iconic role as the human cyborg who returns to present-day Earth to train a young Sarah Connor. In the meantime, her future son John Connor sends his reliable lieutenant Kyle Reese back in time to ensure that she survives.

Game of Thrones beauty Emilia Clarke gets another chance to play a feisty heroine in the role of Sarah with Jai Courtney (Live Free and Die Hard, Unbroken) playing Reese and Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) as future John.

Former Doctor Who star Matt Smith is also part of the new-look cast.

The trailer comes thirty years after the original Terminator film which was eventually followed by the vastly superior Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991). However the series stumbled with 2003’s disappointing Rise of the Machines and 2008’s Terminator Salvation.

Terminator: Genisys will be released amongst a busy summer of films on July 3rd 2015.
