Anya Taylor-Joy cast as a young Furiosa in Mad Max prequel ‘Furiosa’

As one of the brightest prospects in cinema right now, Anya Taylor-Joy is slowly starting to climb up Hollywood’s ladder.

With eye-catching performances in The Witch (2015), Peaky Blinders (2019) and Emma (2020) already under her belt, the Miami-born starlet is now set for her biggest on-screen role to date in the form of action heroine Furiosa.

The bad-ass heroine first made her big-screen debut in the 2015 blockbuster Mad Max: Fury Road with Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron receiving praise for her memorable portrayal.

However, Taylor-Joy will be playing a younger version of the character in an upcoming prequel (currently entitled ‘Furiosa’) which is set before the events of Fury Road.

Additionally, the film will also feature two impressive male stars in Chris Hemsworth (Thor trilogy, Extraction) and recent Emmy winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen, Trial of the Chicago 7). However, it is not yet known what roles they will be playing.

Taylor-Joy’s casting comes at the expense of award-winning Killing Eve star Jodie Comer who was the early favourite to take the role when speculation about the project first started.

As expected, long-serving Mad Max filmmaker George Miller will be directing AND co-writing the prequel which has no release date as of yet.
