Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal confront their troubled past in Nocturnal Animals trailer

Several years after directing the BAFTA-winning drama A Single Man (2009), fashion designer-turned-filmmaker Tom Ford is back behind the camera for his second feature film which pairs up two of Hollywood’s hottest stars.

Five time Oscar nominee Amy Adams (Enchanted, The Fighter, American Hustle) and Jake Gyllenhaal (Prisoners, Nightcrawler, Southpaw) are the two main leads of the upcoming psychological thriller Nocturnal Animals.

Touted as a potential awards contender, the film’s official trailer has now landed.

The plot sees Adams play a successful art-gallery owner who is left shaken by the arrival of a manuscript that is written by her ex-husband (played by Gyllenhaal). As she reads the book, it forces her to examine her past and confront some dark truths.

The film features a versatile support cast which includes Michael Shannon (Boardwalk Empire, Man of Steel), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, Avengers: Age of Ultron), Armie Hammer (The Social Network, The Lone Ranger), Laura Linney (The Truman Show, The Big C), Isla Fisher (The Great Gatsby, Grimsby), Andrea Riseborough (Birdman, Bloodline) and Michael Sheen (The Damned United, Masters of Sex).

Nocturnal Animals will be released in the UK on 4th November.
