Having shown her musical talent in box-office hits like Mamma Mia! (2008) and Les Miserables (2012), the lovely Amanda Seyfried is about to tackle her grittiest role yet with her upcoming film Lovelace.

The biopic drama, which charts the life of the controversial porn actress Linda Lovelace, has finally unveiled a trailer.

The film focuses on how Lovelace (previously known as Linda Boreman) walked out on her religiously strict parents and ended up launching a career in the porn industry with her big break coming with the cult hit Deep Throat in 1972. However the next few years would see her become a spokeswoman for sexual freedom before revealing dark secrets about her career which would ultimately lead to her downfall.

Seyfried leads a starry and versatile cast that includes Peter Sarsgaard (Shattered Glass, An Education), James Franco (127 Hours, Oz: The Great and Powerful), Sharon Stone (Basic Instinct, Casino), Wes Bentley (American Beauty, The Hunger Games), Juno Temple (The Dark Knight Rises, Killer Joe), Chloe Sevigny (Boys Don’t Cry, American Horror Story), Chris Noth (Sex and the City, The Good Wife), Robert Patrick (Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Walk the Line), Hank Azaria (The Simpsons, Godzilla), Bobby Cannavale (Win Win, Boardwalk Empire) and Sarah Jessica Parker (Sex and the City).

The film is due for release in the UK on August 23rd.
